No. It is our desire that athletes of all skill levels can be part of a welcoming, safe, and challenging soccer experience.
My child is really good, how do I know if my child is Division I or II (JV), U15, or U12?
After our first two weeks of soccer our coaches get together and make a decision about who will be on the Division I team, who will be on the Division II team, and if any of the players are needed as “dual roster” players for the other teams. The coaches will also decide if any U15 aged players will be joining the Division I or II teams as either full-time players or dual rostered.
Do you have to try out to make the team?
It is possible that players will complete evaluation exercises but tryouts are not required to be a part of the River City Jaguars.
If I am on the team does it guarantee me playing time?
We are a competitive team, so there is no “equal playing time” however, overall we recognize that in order to be a good team, we need a deep bench, and in order for our bench to be good, they need experience. We strive to develop the whole team. You will get playing time, but it may not be “equal”.
Do players have to attend practices?
It is important that players attend practice. Consistent absences need to be pre-arranged by parents and approved by coaches.
Who do we play against?
The River City Jags play teams from private schools, Christian schools, and club teams from public schools, along with other homeschool teams.
What if we can’t afford the cost to be on the team?
We work hard to help players afford to play on the team. In cases of hardship, the board is sometimes able to offer a reduced fee. In cases of extreme hardship, we have waived fees. Please contact a board member if your family is in need of financial assistance. There is usually a carpool available to the games so that folks don’t have to drive to every game and are able to save on travel expenses.
